Muskelishvili Institute of computational mathematics\u00a0was founded in 1956 as a Computing Center of the Georgian Academy of Sciences. In 1977, due to the decree of the government, it was given the name of the famous Georgian mathematician, Niko Muskhelishvili, who was actually the initiator of launching of the first computer cluster in the country. Later, in 1983, due to the successful implementation of the government tasks regarding the development of various methods of computational mathematics, wide application of the electronic-computing technique and for bringing up the relevant qualified scientists and engineers of the first generation, the institute was reestablished as the research institute.
